Below are a few poems from my first book "When God Answered: Poems of Faith and Possibilities".

Suicide Salvation

Alone on a bridge a young man stands at the ledge

Inching closer and closer to its very narrow edge

Forgive me Father for what I am about to do

You know in my heart I have always loved you

As the man was about to jump he heard a voice

A man standing behind him yelling you have a choice

The jumper stepped back and asked what he said

The man then told him this is not how it should end

How do you know the jumper asked of the man

He said I was in the same place until God gave me a plan

Ten years ago I stood on that very spot

Trying to forget all the troubles I got

I was about to jump when I fell back

Into the arms of a man named Pastor Jack

He asked me why I would end my life

Leaving behind children and a pregnant wife

I told him of all my earthly despairs

He said turn to God because the Father cares

He then read me a passage called John 3:16

And told me stories of what it all means

He said there is nothing so bad as to end it all

You only cause more problems when you take that fall

So I ask you from the heart to come down from the bridge

And I promise to explain why God wants you to live

The jumper with tears climbed down to the road

To thank the man for the wisdom he bestowed

When he got to the street the man was not to be found

Nothing was there except a Bible on the ground

The jumper perplexed opened the first page

And started to cry when he saw the last owner’s name

It said this Bible belonged to the late Pastor Jack

Once you’ve read it you’ll have the knowledge you lack

And thank you for trusting in Gods holy pledge

But leave this Bible where you found it for the next on this ledge

The Letter

Dear Jesus,

This letter was originally going to Santa Claus

But the gift I request can’t have any flaws

And although I know Santa tries his best

Sometimes you don’t get what you request

This time the Gift has to be exactly right

Because the doctors say I don’t have much time

My name is Tommy and I just turned ten

And the doctors say my cancers back again

They say it’s more aggressive than originally believed

And I am not responding to treatments received

They’ve given me only a fifty/fifty chance

Because the cancer is now so far advanced

The tumors have spread throughout my chest

And there are no more treatments they can suggest

I hear mom and dad pray to you every night

And ask that you make my body all right

So I ask you to do what the doctors can not

To heal my body right on the spot

I know what I am asking may seem a little too hard

But if you can do it I’ll give you my baseball cards

Well that’s about it and it’s time for bed

I’ll just sign this letter and place it by my head

I hope you get the letter in plenty of time

With all of my love signed Tommy Levine

Jesus came to Tommy with a healing plan

He cured the boy with just a touch of His hand

The next morning all of his doctors were truly amazed

They couldn’t explain it but Tommy was saved

They said his cancer is no where in sight

It’s like something healed him in the middle of the night

His mom leaned over to tell him he’s better

Tommy said I know Jesus answered my letter

Deceiver to Believer

It’s Sunday morning and we’re off to church

To listen to a pastor talk about our eternal search

I’m only going because my wife believes

Personally I’d rather be at home watching T.V.

It’s playoff time and my team is winning

Instead I have to listen to some guy about sinning

We all sin I’m sure even the pastor does

But he stands up there preaching about Gods holy love

Today he’ll preach about another Bible chapter

When in reality I know it’s my money he’s after

I’ll sit and listen until they pass the plate

Another ten percent of my paycheck now isn’t that great

Every single week he preaches the same old thing

How we'll be saved by the wondrous king

Oh, something different he says now he can heal

And anyone with pain should come up and kneel

I’ve got back pain and I’ll put him to the test

O.K. preacher man now show me your best

He said someone up here has a very bad back

And a belief in God this person does lack

God will heal you and will test your faith

And you’ll see for yourself that His powers are great

The preacher looked at me and said you’re the one

Then placed his hand on my back and the healing had begun

By the power of God I pull all your pain out

And along with it all of your spiritual doubts

I stood for the first time without any pain

I looked for an answer, but I couldn’t explain

A tear fell from my eye and I felt overwhelming relief

The pastor said son that’s the beginning of belief

Pray with me now and accept Jesus into your heart

You’ll be born again and God will give you a fresh start

Now every Sunday I’m in church praising Gods name

But between you and me I still record all the games

The Question

Since the beginning when time began

The question has been raised what created man

Was it an explosion they have led us to believe

Or was it by God who created Adam and Eve

Scientists will say from amoebas we evolved

They published reports saying the mystery was solved

But for others like me this isn’t the case

I believe God created life and the entire human race

They say the book of Genesis couldn’t happen that way

How do they know were they there on that day

Just like the big bang theory I can’t say for sure

But when judgment day comes who’ll feel more secure

So to evolutionist everywhere bidding your final farewell

I suggest you pack light I heard it’s hot down in hell
